How to Recycle Glass

CRD Changes To Glass Recycling

Glass1The CRD Blue Box recycling program now requires that glass be put in a separate container for regular curbside pickup.  ONLY NON-DEPOSIT GLASS should be included for recycling!  For more information visit the CRD website: www.crd.bc.ca/service/waste-recycling/curbside-recycling-program

Too much deposit glass is going to recycling. About 2/3 (over 1 ton or more than 2,100,000 pounds) of the glass picked up through the Blue Box program is deposit glass, causing to the CRD to consider whether or not continue glass recycling! We can help solve the problem by returning our deposit glass for a refund or donating it to a community bottle drive.

Returning Deposit Glass
DEPOSIT GLASS (returnable bottles) should be returned to a bottle depot or other business that accepts deposit glass for a refund. Or you can donate your bottles to a non-proft group (see below).
